| The BAC has worked to turn a shared vision into an organization dedicated to bringing Black Alumni together and creating a link with the University. The BAC has evolved from a small group of alumni and faculty into a formal alumni chapter with an energetic leadership.
In January 2003, the BAC became a formal alumni chapter of George Mason University. At that point, the organization established a governing structure and began mapping a plan for how the BAC can serve alumni. We have adopted the following working mission statement:
The BAC, a formal alumni chapter of George Mason University, brings together Black Alumni through fellowship and professional development activities.
The BAC hopes to become a resource for Black Alumni to forge lasting relationships, identify professional development opportunities, match alumni resources with current Black students and organizations, as well as support the University’s growing network of alumni who give back.
Our organization has hosted several events, including our annual barbecue, Spring Brunch, and Founders' Dinner. Our future events will be focused on professional development opportunities and an annual scholarship fundraiser. Please refer to our calendar for a list of coming and recent events.
All BAC members will have access to our
on-line alumni business directory and job bank as well as
monthly e-newsletters that discuss activities of the organization. Members are encouraged to
participate in our standing committees and other activities.
For more information about the benefits of joining the BAC, please refer to our
membership information.
